Holiday Taxis adds to European range - Travel Weekly - 17 Feb 2003
Taxi transfer service Holiday Taxis is to launch into key European cities this month, as the company reports a strong demand for the new ancillary product. Barcelona, Paris and Madrid are to join a product range covering major Mediterranean resorts, with plans to develop into Amsterdam, Prague, Rome and Milan in the near future. Managing director Paul Stanyer, a former JMC commercial manager said the introduction of key European cities was an obvious move. He said - the low cost carriers have introduced access to cities like we have never had before. However cities are the worst place for taxis in terms of what a holidaymaker could be charged. We provide the security for clients knowing they have paid before travel.
The imminent change to ATOL regulations covering split contracts, allowing agents to package trips for clients under cover, means the time is ripe for add-ons such as private taxi transfers - said Stanyer. Without a shadow of doubt, it's the route agents are going down - he said. Holiday Taxis has, in principal, agreed a supplier deal with Worldchoice and Stanyer is currently negotiating with Kwik Travel and Global Travel Group. He added - ease of use of the service would guarantee strong booking numbers from agents. It's very easy for agents to say - Do you want a transfer? to clients and just book on the web. It's a 10 second procedure - he said. Agents have a dedicated password for the website that provides access to individual agency rates. A consumer site is due to be launched this year.
